All eight Zengeler locations serving as drop-off point for 2017 dress drive
Northbrook, IL, February 14, 2017: With the start of spring just a few short weeks away, prom season is on the horizon at many area high schools. That means all eight Zengeler Cleaners stores are now accepting donations for the 2017 Glass Slipper Project collection drive. The Glass Slipper Project (GSP) is an all-volunteer organization providing opportunities for area high school women to experience the joy of prom at their schools. Zengeler Cleaners is supporting the GSP initiative for the 15th consecutive year.
“The Glass Slipper Project collection drive is one of our favorite times of the year,” said Tom Zengeler, President of Illinois’ oldest cleaner. “Our entire team enjoys the opportunity to work with students from local schools, community-minded businesses and other organizations to support the project. Last year, we set an all-time record by collecting 5,287 dresses. We think we can beat that in 2017, thanks to the continued support of local schools, individual donors, and the local business community.”
Zengeler Cleaners and the Glass Slipper Project have built a great partnership during the past 15 years. During that time, local students and many other generous donors have contributed thousands of dresses and a wide range of accessories, such as shoes, purses and other formal wear accessories. The retail value of the dresses, jewelry and accessories collected last year alone was approximately $3.6 Million.
Over the past several years, GSP has helped more than 24,000 high school women experience the joy of prom, made possible by the donations of lovingly-worn prom dresses and accessories. Thanks to the enthusiastic support from companies like Zengeler Cleaners, the organization has been able to sustain and expand their worthy cause, which began in 1999.
It all leads up to the series of Saturdays where high school women can shop at the GSP’s “shopping boutiques,” which will be scheduled in late April and early May, in cooperation with Chicago Public Schools. Students will once again have the assistance of a personal shopper, who will help them select their dresses and accessories – all provided free of charge by GSP. The location of this year’s boutiques, along with the exact dates, will be announced in the next few weeks.
