The Winnetka-Northfield Chamber of Commerce orchestrated a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Avli Restaurant & Rotisserie located inside The Laundry at 533 Chestnut Street, Winnetka. It is the brainchild of Louie Alexakis, owner of the renowned Avli Estiatorio. The restaurant will feature spit rotisserie lamb and chicken and other specialty meats. Fingerling potatoes will be cooked with drippings from the spits. French fries will be wrapped in sandwiches like it would be served in Europe, but they’ll be available as a side, too. They’re also working on an island stew for colder days, as well entrees like suckling pig. There are 24 seats in the restaurant and for now, it is BYOB. They will be open to the public beginning Friday, May 20.
