New Mask Mandate for Restaurants and Bars. Updates August 26th.

Governor Pritzker announced last Tuesday, new restaurant guidelines that require patrons at bars, restaurants, and other establishments statewide to wear a face covering over their mouth and nose when interacting with staff. This includes when wait staff are taking orders, delivering food and beverages, or attending to service at tables in general.

“In restaurants, face coverings must be worn in indoor and outdoor seating, and during any interaction with wait staff, food service workers, and any other restaurant employee.”

EDUCATE: To establish a pleasurable experience for all guests, we highly recommend educating your staff and patrons on the new mandate. When seating your guests explain the new rules mandated by the state of Illinois that requires restaurant guests to wear their masks when approached by wait staff, food service workers, and any other restaurant employee.

Say, “Your safety is of utmost importance to us. We would like your experience here to be enjoyable. We are asking that when you would like service, all you need to do is to put on your face-mask. Wearing your face-mask will be our signal to approach your table. When you are not wearing your face-mask, we will not approach your table.”

“Mask up, server shows up; mask down no server around.”
