. Jon came to Chicago in 1993 as the Director of Development for the Chicago office of Anti-Defamation League (ADL).  Prior to his relocation to the Midwest, Jon held a number of senior positions within ADL including Director of Development of the New York City Region and Assistant Director to the National Director of Development.  In 1993, Jon was asked to supervise not only the Chicago development office, but also the entire Midwest region for ADL. In 2001, Jon received the prestigious Milton Senn Award, an award that is given annually by ADL to their top professional.

After 19 years with ADL, Jon took over as Vice President for Corporate Affairs for the American Friends of Hebrew University.  Jon’s career also included Director of Development for the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs, Outside Consultant for Major Gifts and Direct Response for PAWS Chicago. Most recently, he served as Director of Development for Friends of the Forest Preserves before coming to North Shore Senior Center.

Jon spent his early years growing up in New York City and Stuttgart, Germany. He attended the McBurney School for Boys in Manhattan. Noted graduates included news anchor Ted Koppel, actor Richard Thomas, and J.D. Salinger, whose novel “Catcher in the Rye,” is based on his days at McBurney.  A graduate of the City University of New York and York University in England, Jon received his B.A. in History and received his graduate degree at the University of Manchester, England. “I never intended to go into the world of philanthropy,” Jon said. However, he was swayed by a quotation by an unknown source; “I shall pass through this world but once.  Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now.  Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”

Jon currently resides in Long Grove, IL with his wife, Lisa.  He is the father of Zachary, Nikkola, Samantha, Ben, Aidan and Alana and, occasionally the master of his two beloved “K9 children,” Remi (a 185-pound English Mastiff) and Kado, his wolf-like Akita.
