Winnetka has a Council-Manager form of government.

Council meetings are held in the Village Hall Council Chamber at 7:30 in the evening on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Agendas are available at the library or on this web site. A portion of every council meeting is set aside to hear comments from Winnetka residents regarding any Village issue.

The Village Manager serves as the Chief Administrator of the Village. He is responsible to the Village Council for the management and operation of all departments of the Village, and he oversees the implementation of Village Council directives.

Additionally, staff is responsible for processing and issuing all business and liquor licenses, administering certain human resources functions, updating the Village’s website, and maintaining the Village code and Village documents. The department also serves as the Village’s election authority.
