The new Writers Theatre designed by Studio Gang Architects held a ribbon-cutting at their spectacular “statement location”, 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe on Feb. 12. It was an event attended by the Theatre’s Trustees, Board Members, Theatre Subscribers,Theater Staff, State Representatives, Glencoe Village officials, Press, Glencoe residents and friends.
All of this is a far cry from operating in the back of a local bookstore, which had been the case recently.
“We have been working on this project for eight years and this new building is more than just a new home for Writers Theatre,” said Executive Director Kate Lipuma. “This is about bringing a new, exciting experience for our artists and our audiences and creating what we believe is an iconic building for Glencoe.”
An original composition, “Presence” was performed in honor of the opening along with a ribbon cutting ceremony. One of the most highly anticipated new theater complexes in the Chicago area is ready to put on a show, and the show begins outside the building!
